In the early 1990’s all gardening and maintenance services were sadly contracted out across the Royal Parks after having an inhouse workforce for generations.
Earlier this month the tide has turned with the first Royal Park to re-establish an inhouse gardens and estate maintenance team is Richmond Park. Staff employed by contractors have now become Royal Parks staff once again.
To equip this new initiative a whole raft of machinery and oversight has been introduced, with much of the equipment being battery powered or chosen for its efficiency.
A good example can be seen in Pembroke Lodge with the staff in uniforms and brand-new equipment installed.
