Welcome to Darren Share MBE

Darren joined the Royal Parks in January as the new Director of Parks having moved from Birmingham City Council.

He has been involved with gardening all of his life, starting work as an apprentice gardener for Birmingham City Council. He has held positions such as propagator in the Council’s Nurseries, Tree Officer, Area Parks Manager, Head of Parks and finishing as Director of Street Scene, completing 38 years’ service with the Council before moving to his new role with the Royal Parks. Darren led all of Birmingham’s ‘In Bloom’ entries, and from 2011 designed and led Birmingham’s entry to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, masterminding many gold medal winning exhibits.  In 2017 he was awarded an MBE for services to the environment in Birmingham.

Darren volunteers for the Royal Horticultural Society where he chairs the national advisory committee for community gardening. He is also chair of the Britain in Bloom judges and annually travels around the UK assessing entries into this campaign. Darren is currently a Council Member and Trustee for the RHS.

The Guild extends a warm welcome to Darren and looks forward to working with him in its role as a partnership organisation supporting the Royal Parks.
