History researchers Dave and Claire Ivison were dressed for the occasion when leading guided tours around the World War II site of Camp Griffiss, Bushy Park, the home of General Eisenhower's headquarters in 1944.
They researched and put together an event to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings on 6 June 1944 for the Friends of Bushy and Home Parks. The display marquee, with information boards and artifacts, and tours were available on the weekend of 8 and 9 June, near SHAEF Gate, Teddington.
The event was a great success with 1,200 visitors over the two days and a total of 250 people over the four guided walks.
